Once a Blue Moon

Hi!

So I haven't been posting much, and my sincere apologies for that. I also apologise for the text heavy blob that is this post.

Assessment's really starting to build up at school- We had our Maths B assignment due on Wednesday, an English short-story draft is due on Monday (May I just add, that this is probably the most proactive I've ever been for a piece of assessment. I have three more days, and I'm already past halfway. And that's only the draft.) and stand down is starting the week after next week. I also have a Chinese Listening Test this Friday. Chinese Listening tests are always the tests that I'm most nervous for, and always do the worst on. See, the thing is, I have an extremely short concentration span (possibly due to my lack of sleep...) (I've also recently learnt that doing this: ... is very me.) (I learnt that from my piano teacher) and listening tests require me to be very alert the whole time and write down all the information given, and half the time I zone out during the first reading then get super stressed cause there's only one more :( I also write super slowly, which doesn't help things...but anyway, today we did a practise listening test, and I actually got most things (everything except 3. WHO NEEDS TO KNOW IF THE STORE WAS HAVING A 50% OFF SALE FOR LAST SEASON'S CLOTHES ANYWAY. AND WHO NEEDS TO KNOW IF THOSE SHOES WERE SUITABLE FOR SOME RANDOM. AND WHO NEEDS TO KNOW IF YOU PAY CASH OR NOT), which has left me feeling pretty confident.

This week was also one of my sleepiest weeks yet. See, I left my Maths B assignment reeeeally late to do, and the three nights before it was due I was up until 3 and beyond working on it (lol sabi has since become my study friend as she apparently also stays up that late every night). This week was also (inconveniently) the Intermediate Strings Festival which is an annual festival where a few of the surrounding schools get together and form this massive orchestra. It's actually my favourite festival, because the songs we play are really cool and the teachers have this tradition of dressing up to suit the theme of the song. Like for example, this year our last song was a compilation of a few Lady Gaga songs, and the teacher from one of the other schools got all dressed up as Lady Gaga :) Usually it's the male teachers from our school and next door who dress up though (two years ago they were batman and robin, last year they were the beach boys ALONG WITH FAKE ABS AND EVERYTHING), so we were all expecting them to cross-dress but LOOOL our teacher was like 'yeah, I have limits'. Ahhh that would have been so funny though!

Anyway, so we had rehearsals for the concert on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and Wednesday was the concert. They actually provide pizza for everyone to eat, except Sonja, Sabi and I all forgot out pizza money so while everyone else was eating, we basically just bummed around the school. And, we also created the most epic recording you've ever heard in your life. It was basically us singing our parts for the Lady Gaga song a cappella style (it's so convenient- Sabi is first violin, I'm second violin and Sonja is viola, so we had one of each part minus cello and bass) and it sounds SO COOL. It's on Sabi's phone, and I'll upload it here when she posts it.

So yeahh...the concert went really well (it sounded so good, literally the whole time I was like 'why am i not recording this why am i not recording this').

Today, I had tennis after school and we were beaten...quite miserably. Apparently, the girl we were versing is like, 600th in the world or something and LOL literally every time she served i was like 'woah what where'd that ball go'. So YAAAAAAAAAA!

Please enjoy these meals of the week XD

Last Sunday, we went out for sushi :)

Udon noodle soup from that same meal...

DEEP-FRIED ICE-CREAM!

more soosheh.

spinach pizza. i love spinach pizza.

MY SECOND FAVOURITE FOOD EVER. THESE SPECIAL PORK MEATBALLS.

lunch today! japanese-style barramundi with rice and apple isle XD

And that's all for now...

HAPPY BLUE MOON DAY!

this past week.

hey hey hey hey hey!

Sozzles for abandoning you this past week, but I've been otherwise occupied.

So.........I guess I'll start from last week.

Last Friday (17th August), we had this maths lecture day at UQ where we went and attended three lectures (instead of school, woo for us). The first one was this triangulation one, then we had one on knot theory then we had one on topology.
My favourite was the knot theory one :)
So yeppp that was all fun and all that.

dinner

Last Saturday, was a pretty normal Saturday for the most part. School tennis in the morning, then tutor, then tennis coaching. BUT at night my cousins from Indonesia (Emily, James and Christal) came over- they'd been staying at the gold coast because Daniel and I had been at school, but on Saturday night they slept over here, cause they could XD On Saturday we went out for dinner with basically the entire Brisbane-based family (lol like 19 people). We had Chinese, which is always nice. Then yeahhhh they slept over :)

lemper

Chinese!

On Sunday, they were still here so Emily, Christal and I went to the city to shop :) I bought three shirts...which all ended up being the same colour (nude). Coincidentally.
Christal bought some stuff from typo, and Emily bought jewellery and a skirt but left them on the bus home DX
So after that they went back to the gold coast and I proceeded to stress about my English which was due on Monday.

lemon chicken

On Monday, my English was due, and I totally handed it in. I also had tutor.

my tutor gave me cake.
fried chicken marinated with this coconutty sauce that was delicious.
strawberries and cream.

On Tuesday, nothing happened.

clockwise from top: egg covered in meat, chicken dumpling with a cabbage wrapping, potato wrapped in meat, tofu, dim-sum.

On Wednesday, nothing happened. I didn't even take a photo of my meal.

On Thursday, I did my English speech. Other than that, nothing happened. No photo of meal, either.

Yesterday, we totally had a Starbucks breakfast at school! And I decided that I should really have Starbucks more often, cause it's scrumptalicious. I got a double choc chip frappaccino.
Okay I just ate and I just got hungry again ><
My school tennis was also on yesterday night, instead of this morning, and we totally won :)

Sonja and I's drinks

TODAY. FINALLY.
...Nothing happened.
No, actually, that's not true. I had tennis. I had tutor. I...ate.
#woahnicoleyoubetterslowdown

I also finally started driving again after like, two months. LOL because my mum was like (ages ago)- "you're can't drive until you clean your room" and so last night I was bored and cleaned my room :)

soto mie, which is actually my favourite food ever.

WOO FOR ME.
27 EXTRA MINUTES TO THE CLOCK.
ONLY A BIT MORE THAN 70 MORE HOURS TO GO.
WOO FOR ME.
WOO.

matthew perry appreciation.

Yes, this post is inspired by Diem's 'Nathan Adrian appreciation' post.

Yes, shut-up.

:)

So Matthew Perry is like fdjkgertbel the most awesome person alive. Okay, yes, Chandler was my favourite character on F.R.I.E.N.D.S., but like...this is an unbiased opinion fact.

Anyways, so I basically tweet spam him daily...and he's never replied. #SHOCKGASP

I did get a reply from Courteney though...which I'll post a picture of here for fun.

So yeah...time he stepped up his game.

this is what they call a brilliant screen-cap

Anyway, it was Matthew's 43rd birthday yesterday... which also sort of inspired this post. I was actually planning on making a cake except then I realised that it was ridiculous and resorted to this instead.

But stupid time-zones meant that it was about midnight when I tweeted that. WHY IS LA SO FAR AWAY.
AND WHY DOESN'T HE CHECK HIS NOTIFICATIONS AT MIDNIGHT.
WHY.
WHY.
WHY.
PICTURE SPAM.

No, tweeting me back is what you should be doing. Or at least announcing which mall.

Yeah okay.
I sense a reply coming.

athletics and ekka

Hi!

I haven't posted in a few days because I slept over at Diem's for a couple of nights XD

Anyways, on Tuesday was our athletics carnival. I actually participated this year- actually, when I'm there I usually do participate but last year we didn't go.
But yuppp. I was in the 4X100m relay (originally with Sonja, Diem and Sabi but Sabi was sick so we ran it with Jen instead) and I was also the reserve for the 100m run.

I live pretty near the stadium, so I got driven there in the morning and it was actually so sad, because I managed to arrive about 10 seconds before the bus came, and I didn't know where to go so I ended up just standing there at the top of this hill awkwardly while all the buses drove past...the subtly joined the group...

Great story Nicole.

:)

It was actually really sad, because I was the reserve for the 100m, and heaps of people were away. Then they asked me to run in Div 1 which is like fdgnnrdstngtrehne for fast people. And if you know me at all, then you will know that I literally walk up like, 3 stairs and I'll be puffing.
But I was the reserve, so I agreed, then right before I was about to race they were like 'yeah you can't run because you don't have the form' then I was like 'what form' and yeah long story short, I didn't run.

BUT I did run the relay, and we actually came 5th. WE DIDN'T LOSE.

We were actually hoping to get a bit of lift from our capes, but we had no such luck.

After athletics, Sonja and I went to sleepover at Diem's house!

We had sooo much food it was ridiculous.

And we had this game of pool. LOOOL it was actually one of the funniest games of pool I've played ever. It was Diem and I against Sonja and Thanh. Diem and I were losing, but then Sonja kept hitting our balls in so we ended up with only the black and white balls and both teams were just trying to get it in. THEN Sonja hit the white ball in! But while we were celebrating, Thanh switch the balls (they were both different shades of white. Or grey if that's what you'd prefer) and we were like ..................what........................
but yeah.
we won.
:)

We also watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians cause it's just a great and addictive show, and we also watched Bridesmaids except I fell asleep for like, half an hour in the middle of it so missed a whole chunk.

The next day we all went to Ekka!
We went last year, and it was pretty much the same, so we didn't stay all day and left at about three-ish. While there we spent like, an hour at the animal place feeding baby goats and stuff, then went on the chair swing (because they're totally awesome) and into the haunted house (okay, it was terrifying. Well, I made a point to scream the whole way to avoid any surprises, but they somehow got me anyway. Especially the chainsaw guy. THE OTHERS KNEW HE WAS COMING, SO THEY ALL RAN THROUGH AND I WAS BEHIND THEM. SO THEY GUY WAS LIKE *TURNS AROUND* *GOES FOR ME*). Thennnnn we went to the show-bag place and i got four show-bags- the caramello koala one, the freddo frog one, the zappo one and the Madison one. :)

Then we ate and stuff then left.

And yeahh.
I slept over at Diem's again.....and we went to church which was in Viet so I didn't understand anything, but oh well.

OOTD for church

MOTD for yesterday
Soto betawi

Today we went to this maths lecture day at UQ- I'll probably post about today in tomorrow's post though.
